Nonprofit on a limited budget

  • Branding of local affiliate within the confines of national guidelines
  • Website redesign using customized template
  • Wordpress blog for internal communications
  • Constant Contact for email newsletters and announcements
  • Google apps virtual office for calendar, docs and spreadsheets

Girls Inc. of Southern Arizona has taken advantage of low price templates and free open source software to manage their nonprofit, leaving more funds available for the girls they serve.

First, I helped Brand their look. Remaining within the national organization’s guidelines we were able to give the local affiliate a unique contemporary recognizable look.

Next was the website redesign. Choosing a pre-made template and customizing the graphics saved hours of website development costs.

Volunteer blog

The associated Wordpress blog was set up with password protection and is available to volunteers. This allows the staff to keep each other up-to-date on needs, events and planning within the organization. The blog is a free Wordpress theme customized to coordinate with the public website.

A free Google Apps calendar and virtual office was set up to serve as a hub for administrative planning and documents, saving time, commuting and office space. The Google Apps account also acts as an online back up to vital documents and spreadsheets.

Email Newsletter

Joining Constant Contact with nonprofit rates, Girls Inc. now sends their newsletters, invitations and announcements via email. This has saved hundreds of dollars on paper, printing and mailing costs and helped the environment.

Even with the smallest budget any nonprofit or small business can have a presence on the web in a short time.
